Maureen Lawrence, 70, of St. Paul, passed away September 4, 2024. Preceded in death by her mom, Fern, and father, Freeman, as well as her five siblings, Tom, Jerry, Mimi, Peggy, and Kathy. Her husband, Brian passed away in 2012.
Maureen was a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her daughter, Michelle (Nathaniel) Phillips and her five grandchildren, Sophia, Sylvia, Warren, Brandon, and Blake. Maureen also leaves behind Jim, her loving partner for the past nine years.
Maureen was born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota until her father passed away when she was just six years old. When Maureen was a senior in high school, her mom moved the two of them to Edina, MN. She went on to move her way up in Target Corporation where she eventually became the executive administrative assistant to the vice president of Target offices in downtown Minneapolis. Maureen took extreme pride in her role as organizer and communicator to all those she worked with and for during her career.
Maureen was a vibrant, funny, and selfless person. She was the first to offer help or an ear to listen to any one in need of a friend. Motherhood was a job Maureen took very seriously. She always put her family first. Those that were blessed to have met Maureen will tell you her smile and her contagious laugh could light up a room. She had an amazing ability to be positive in even the most challenging of situations.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at Washburn McReavy in Edina, 5000 W. 50th St. Visitation at 10:00 am with memorial service beginning at 11:00. Lunch to follow in the lower level of Washburn McReavy. Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association preferred.

Reen Bean (her Nick name) has been a great friend since we met, the start of our senior year. Her mother had moved them from Fargo to Edina over the summer. Tough age to move, but she thrived, regardless. We had many scathingly brilliant ideas! We traveled to Arizona the summer following graduation. We moved in together in 1974. She was my matron of honor when I married in 1975 and the Godmother of our oldest daughter, Tamara in 1977. When her daughter, Michelle was born, my husband and I became Godparents to her daughter, Michelle. Maureen had battled Alzheimer's disease for the last several years. That disease is both ugly and relentless. It's especially difficult for family and friends to witness the loss of everything that makes you, you! Every now and again, your unique laughter would come shining through the haze. Those moments were fleeting in the end. RIP, my friend.
Reen Bean, you will be the brightest angel in our heavens, watching over your daughter and her family from afar! Your legacy lives on through them! Job well done! I must say, there are far too many Edina angels!
