Peter F. Yanda

Peter F. Yanda

Yanda, Peter F. age 70, of Edina, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. Peter's favorite line was "never had a bad day" and he truly meant it. He exemplified positivity, resilience and courage. He loved to laugh and no one ever left a conversation with him without hearing a joke. Peter's life was defined by his relationships. He was a friend, a mentor, and everyone's biggest champion. Above all, he was endlessly devoted to his family and his faith. He was welcomed into Heaven by his mother and father, Betty and Bob; and sister, Mary Finnegan. He will be missed and forever cherished by his wife, Jane; daughters, Gretchen (Andrew Goldfinch), Jamie Ballard (Keith), and Lindsay Gilligan (Ryan); brother, Steve; nieces, nephews, extended family; and the five brightest lights in his life: Ava, Luke, Will, Abby and Henry. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, from 4-7 PM, at: Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100

Pete was a force on the football field and a fun-loving guy off the field. As Co-Captain of our team along with Terry Bishop, they helped to lead the Hornets to a state football championship. Beyond the field you could often hear Pete's loud and exuberant laughter down the hall or coming out of the lunchroom or study hall.

After high school Pete was successful in his computer selling and leasing business, while keeping his family, faith and friendships at the top of his priority list.  He was a prolific and amusing story & joke-teller. If you didn't get the punchline, you could still end up laughiing along with him because of that infectious Yanda laugh.

He will be missed by many of his H.S. classmates as well as his extended family and the many people and friends he made over his lifetime.  Just one more joke or story, Pete?  I guess we'll have to wait for that, but I know it will be a doozy.
